Poem – Lost

(written a very long time ago)

Walking down a darkened street

Looking for love from who I meet

When I saw loneliness in your eyes

We try to talk but we can’t speak

From all the lies and the secrets we keep

If only we could you might be the one

Lost in these feelings

I thought they had died

Lost in these feelings

Buried alive

Now I see that time has passed

And you have gone by

But can’t forget the look

That you had in your eyes

Another day older

As the wind blows colder

Don’t know where I’m going

Don’t care where I’ve been

  1. Lovely, swan. Truly notes on the human condition. I particularly like this line: ‘If only we could you might be the one’ and the previous lines, which speak to people’s inability to take a chance and communicate with one another out of fear, or hiding, or lies.

  3. Nice, Swan! First actual poem I’ve read by you. Are you the person in this poem? Whoever it was, was not in a good place. Well-written, strongly conveys the feeling of loss and isolation, the passage of time……………….
